Trichomonas vaginalis trophozoites - pear shaped 7 - 23 microns (average 13) x 5 - 15 microns with 1 nucleus , axostyle, 3 - 5 anterior flagella and 1 posterior attached by undulating membrane - not free beyond membrane in smear from vagina stained with Giemsa stain.
